Representaciones mediáticas de la diversidad sexual en series televisivas japonesas: visibilidad, estereotipos y espectacularización

Resumen

El propósito de este artículo es presentar los resultados de un estudio cualitativo sobre la representación de las diversidades sexuales como elemento protagónico en series live-action y mainstream producidas en Japón entre 2016 y 2022. Se seleccionó una muestra de caso emergente —nueve títulos— sobre la cual se identificaron y problematizaron las identidades de género y orientaciones sexuales representadas, así como las líneas generales de la trama con respecto a la diversidad. Se encuentra que el elemento recurrente es la homosexualidad de varones, con una exploración de la asexualidad y el travestismo. No obstante, incluso en estos contenidos, sigue dominando la representación de personas cisgénero y la romantización de la homosexualidad entre varones como elemento para el disfrute de una audiencia femenina.

Yunuen Ysela Mandujano-Salazar, Universidad Autónoma de Ciudad Juárez

La Dra. Yunuen Ysela Mandujano-Salazar es profesora-investigadora del Departamento de Ciencias Sociales de la Universidad Autónoma de Ciudad Juárez. Es miembro del Sistema Nacional de Investigadores Nivel 1. Es doctora en Ciencias Sociales y Maestra en Estudios de Asia y África especialidad Japón. Ha recibido diversas becas por parte de la Fundación Japón, incluidas Japanese Language Program for Specialists in Cultural and Academic Fields (2013) y Japanese Studies Fellowship (2016 y 2020). Sus temas de investigación se centran en el cruce de los estudios culturales, los estudios de medios y los estudios japoneses.
