En la segunda mitad del siglo xvi, Japón se convirtió en una escala importante para los navíos que desde Filipinas realizaban viajes transpacíficos hacia y desde la Nueva España propiciando el comercio de mercancías y la movilización de personas. La evangelización de los japoneses fue tarea primordial de jesuitas, franciscanos y dominicos; para el Shogunato japonés el interés era comercial y de adquisición de nuevas tecnologías navieras. Este artículo trata sobre esos primeros contactos hasta que fueron interrumpidos por el edicto de expulsión de misioneros promulgado por Ieyasu Tokugawa en 1612.Abstrac:During the second half of the XVI Century, Japan became an important stop for ships that from Philippines realized transpacific journeys towards and from the New Spain fostering trade of merchandise and mobilizing persons. On the one hand, evangelization of Japanese became a priority to Jesuits, Franciscans and Dominicans; for the Japanese Shogunate the interest was commercial and the acquisition of new shipbuilding technologies. This article is about those first contacts between Spaniels and Japanese until they were abruptly interrupted by the edict of expulsion of missioners promulgated by Ieyasu Tokugawa in 1612.Downloads
