Abstract:Given the pressing needs for Mexico to diversify its exports of fruits and vegetables, this study analyzed the experience of the export of Mexican mangoes to Japan. While the study is situated in the attempt to understand the context of the international market of mangoes, where Mexico is one of the most important players, the analysis is made on the Japanese market of this fruit and the historical trajectory and current situations of the Mexican export within it, the challenges that must be confronted if Mexico is to maintain its current strong position. Then, the article evaluates the effects of the Economic Partnership Agreement Mexico-Japan on the Mexican export of mangoes to Japan to examine if it has achieved the expected impact. Finally, the article concludes pointing out some considerations derived from the study.Downloads
